That reminds me of one time when I had a guy ask me right away "So you were married before, or did you have kids without being married?" Never understood what he was getting at by asking me that.

He was probably asking if your children were planned.
It's not exactly a sign of genius to have unplanned children.
Gosh, I had just met the guy though. Why was he already thinking about sex and possible pregnancy?
...because thinking about pregnancy and other risks doesn't happen in the heat of passion. That's why some of us would rather know now compared to later.
Off topic, but we always think about sex. Not so much the pregnancy part, though.
