The singer Lorde is 16 and is dating a 24 year old guy - do you think that's reasonable or inappropriate on the part of the guy? I used to think such a thing was a red flag and sketchy but honestly as long as they hold off sex until the legal age of consent what's really wrong with it? A lot of people are still basically starting out in life in their mid-20s. While a lot of older boyfriends are abusive and controlling let's face it so are a lot of younger boyfriends.

I'm 24 myself and I have a good friend who's 16 and I think she's beautiful and we'd be very compatible and we get along realy well but unfortunately she's taken. At first I felt like she was too young for me anyway but eventually I started to change my mind. I probably relate to her better than to a girl my age who is a mother or well established in a career and I feel like intellectually she is my equal because she's extremely smart.

I do think that if you're old enough to be a girl's dad and she's under 20 that's pretty disgusting, even if it's legal in your jurisdiction. 40+ is a whole different ballpark, and I'd say the same for gay men as well. I find gay guys in their 40s who have 19 year old boyfriends pretty gross, I can't blame them for their attraction but it seems really creepy to me. If they were only like 24-26 though I wouldn't really care at all.

as people get older and get more life experience the age gap doesn't make as much of a difference.

If I ever had a daughter who was 16 and dating a 24 year old I would probably end up in jail.

It's extremely weird, manipulative and just plain wrong.

To try to say there is no difference between a 16 and 24 and 50 and 42 year old is either complete ignorance of people or denial.

Other than the obvious, what could a 16year old girl possibly ofter a 24year old man?

I think an appropriate age gap is when people are in the same stage of life. I'd consider a 24 year old man wanting to be with a 16 year old CHILD a pedofile.

I hope this helps. So according to my calculations I'm 32 and only date women between 30-35. Works for me.
You seem to have run out of ideas for people once they hit 45+.

I imagine you'll rethink your statement in 13 years.
