Baby, babe, honey, sweetie, darling. Am I wierd for thinking this is wierd? I had a discussion with a female friend and she agreed with me that she would never use pet names for a bf/husband. The one I hear the most with 20 somethings is "babe". Do other guys like this....do girls?

My SO rarely calls me by my real name. It actually sounds strange coming from his mouth when he does, lol. But they're not necessarily cute names he calls me, they can just be names that came up out of different situations, occurrences, etc. More funny than cute. Sometimes cute, though. lol. Same with my names for him.

May I ask how old you are? And if you have ever had a relationship? I'm not saying that ALL couple call each other by pet names but I think most couples call each other such things as babe, honey, baby, sweetie, dear, hon, booger (okay, that's what I call my husband a lot of the time), clown (that's what he calls me), etc. They aren't all cutesie or obnoxious - just endearing.

LOL...that's exactly how our house is. The only time he uses my real name is when he's pissed at me or when I'm completely spaced out and he's trying to get my attention.

We started sarcastically calling each other "dear" and "love". Otherwise, I think he just says "hey" when he wants my attention.

My parents have pet names for me. I don't mind. But relationship wise, I don't do pet-names. I have never given anybody one-aside from actual pets lol.

Otherwise, I was indifferent. It's not my thing to give other humans pet-names, it's just not me, and it sounds forced. So, I don't do it. If my SO had a pet-name for me, I wouldn't mind, long as it's not "boo." I don't like that one. lol But it's fine if it sounds innocent, and not meant to be condescending, or degrading.
