I listen to a lot of audiobooks but I can't listen to most American female narrators. Their voices are too high pitched/nasal or flat or something. I don't know what it is. UK female narrators are pretty much ok. For male narrators, Jay Snyder and Ray Porter are good. A lot of women do seem to like Sam Elliot.
I haven't. But one time in 02, I was in a well known camera shop in Columbus OH when the proprieter said one of his female employes wanted to tell me something. She told me ( and this has never happened before or since) that she "just loved my voice". I was a bit taken aback and just said "Thanks". At the time I was single, but like a dumbass, didn't ask if she was, nor did I ask her out. After 03, I quit getting thru Columbus so I have always wondered if I missed out on something.
It's seems to be what will get my attention very quickly. I will hear a woman's voice and tune into it even in a crowd. It's not all that's required for attraction but it certainly is what gets my attention. I also noticed that most of the music I have kept in all my years is sung by women.
I think it's because my mother was quite a good singer.

Interesting, I feel the same way. I typically don't listen very often to female singers either.
Edited to add: To contradict myself, I think that NPR's Terry Gross has a pleasant voice. I like listening to her program.

Yep. If I hear a guy talk and his voice sounds unmasculine or if it sounds annoying, I probably won't want to meet him or talk to him again. I realize though that a guy's voice might grow on me eventually, and I might give him a chance...IF everything else about him activates my attraction towards him.
Not personally, but I've had men ask if I looked like my voice sounded. Lol

I have had a number of exes urge me to audtion for radio (never TV) work. One of them nicknamed me "The Voice". And there have been a couple of wrong numbers where the woman on the other end kept me on the line a bit longer than is customary. The cake taker happened just the other day... I was shopping with my wife in our big box supermarket/home improvement/auto-parts/bait & tackle, superstore, and I was discussing Avocados with her. All of a sudden a woman leans in and say's "do you sing?". No excuse me or anything, just "do you sing?" I'm like..."kind of, why?". I actually more than 'kind of' sing, but... wth?? She says..."your voice... its so deep and resonant... its very soothing... I like it". My wife isn't saying a word all this time. Neither am I. She rarely shops. I usually have to do it all by myself. I think that's about to change...
