Are you and your mate opposites? How so? How do you handle the differences?
Examples:
Is one happy go lucky and the other melancholy?
Is one a financial whiz and the other can't balance a checkbook?
Is one shy and the other outgoing?
Is one a spender and the other a saver?
We meet most of your list above with the exception of one being happy go lucky and the other being melancholy. We are both happy go lucky but have learned to temper it a bit with some responsibility Being a grown up sucks

In some ways my husband and I are identical to the point that it's almost scary. In other ways, we're diametric opposites. However, sometimes this works out to our favor. For instance, D is pretty much a glass-half-full guy. I, on the other hand, have a half-empty glass with a crack in it and half the time I can't even FIND my glass so there you have it. Well...on the occasions that D is down/sad (often pertaining to our son's autism), I tend to go into half-full overdrive and talk him out of it.
Ways we're the same:
Interest in "weird" stuff, such as ghost stories, etc.
Sense of humor.
Frugal/low-maintenance.
Family first.
So far liberal left we're practically falling off the map.
Love of nerdy shows/nerdy channels (Discovery, History, etc.).
Ways we're different:
He's positive, I'm more melancholy.
He's trendy, I'm nerdy.
He's a math genius who hates to write, I'm a writer who can't count higher than ten unless I take my socks off.
He lets things go, I hang onto things.
I'm asian. She's white.
I'm smart. She's smarter.
I am thrifty, but I can spend on something cool. She's even thriftier (to use a nice word).

LOL I enjoyed reading your comparison- you all need a tv show!
even though Im single I dont think there is anyone like me, thus all my mates have been complete opposite of me, and if we are alike in some way- there is always a "but" somewhere in the statement lol
We have enough in common (the big picture things - family/money/politics) that we can have fun with our differences.
