There are a few places that will recycle trees around us but one year I decided to burn it in the back yard, I pulled it out a good 40 feet from the deck and set it on fire, it went up like it had gas on it and in a few seconds I regretted it, flames shooting up 15-20 feet putting off heat that felt like the sun from our top deck, kinda scary really!
Its amazing how fast the darn thing went up, my kids looked at me like I was some sort of psycho.
I think it might have taken all of 1 1/2 minutes to get from full to smoking skeletal remains.
Yikes!
Sorry, can't do anything stupid with my tree. It goes in and out of its box. As a matter of fact, it's gonna go into its box today, as soon as I get out of here!
Come to think of it, I did something stupid this year. I used "snow"... Probably will sweep leftover snowflakes till next Christmas.
My step dad bought a live tree with the bulb attached and when he took it out off the car he threw his back out...he swore that if the tree died after he planted it after the holidays he would torch it...
Well, he planted it, it died and in July we had a torching party with food and fireworks! It was a blast!!

I hope you torched it in front of other Christmas Trees as to teach them a lesson....
I grew up in Brooklyn NY. When I was a kid, people would drag their tree out to the street for the garbage man to take. Most times young hoodlums would set the tree a blaze before the Sanitation Department picked up the garbage. I was always afraid a car parked near by would catch fire.
I'll take a cut tree over a fake tree any time! The one time we got one of those you cut yourself, we were leaving town Christmas afternoon so wifey wanted it out of the house before we left. Jsut to see how long it would take to be dry enough to burn I tried every week or so. Wasn't dry enough to burn until Valentine's Day.
