There was a really good discussion going on all the social ills of divorce and it got shut down, I am not sure if that is because it was off topic but I did not see any law sub forums in the general section so this really is the closest sub forum to discuss it.
I think the bottom line is for most guys is they dont want to pay, period. They/I dont care what the courts rational is, I/we dont want to pay but we still want sex. This results in the problems that we have today.
There was alot of agrument about what guys SHOULD want to do however thats not reality so when discussing non reality theoreticals its going to go wild. The system is set up to be antagonistic because it involves using the courts to force someone to do something.
Try the legal forum if you want to talk about law.
A bit of a sidebar:
The system is there to protect people that need protecting. Namely, children. And spouses who stayed home and/or who don't make nearly as much as their exes. This can work in both directions, we just hear of it more often being the woman who gets awarded money. Probably because they take on the primary child-rearing duties most of the time and/or they make less money.
It's not there to punish men for wanting sex. Not all women get fat divorce settlements. I know plenty who got very little... I know I sure as hell didn't get much. Nor did I push for it. Getting rid of a bad marriage was enough. Still, what man doesn't wanna help provide for his kids? If you don't wanna pay for kids, get a vasectomy... or quit having sex. It's pretty straightforward, really.
Perhaps we need a divorce/alimony/child support forum?
