Mirror them...which is funny to say..because you are not suppose to be able to see vampires in mirrors...But it works.

My mother is toxic in her negativity. I see her several times a week. After the third negative thing that she says, I make an excuse to leave, kiss her on the cheek and go.

I think it's harder for those who have grown up in negativity to handle emotional vampires. Or at least to put their behavior into perspective. To just say or think "sucks to be you". But it is like an invisible, poison gas cloud whenever I am around folks like that.

I have a family member like that... I screen calls and try to have an "out" to get away from her when we are together because she is really that annoying.

I've known two people like that.

One was a weed dealer I had in high school. I could not spend more than 5 minutes before he would try to suck me into his sob stories. He was a complete pathological compulsive liar. You would go to the kids house to buy a joint and leave with the biggest head ache of your life. So bad you did not even want to smoke anything but a cig after the experience.

Another is was/is one of my best friends. Though he is one of many good childhood friends he has grown to be one of the biggest sleaze balls I have ever known. He runs through women, had crabs, is on unemployment as a front (he sells his prescribed pills for money), is classless. I love him to death but hes like that screw ball brother you have. You just really can't stand to be seen or associated with him for the most part, but you would take your shirt off for him and he would do the same for you, if he was sober and conscious.

Don't you mean you would take the shirt off your back to give it to him?

i know a few people like this.. i tend to be quite blunt and un-feeling with them because its the same crap and i'm just wondering what the hell is wrong with these people..
my one friend who is a HUGE emotional vampire... I went to talk to her and all she did was *$%&^*... so I finally looked at her and said "So, what else do you have to $%^&* about today"... so she goes into another tirade about her bf of 2 years not making a commitment...

HAHA... I guess I asked for it. I walked away.
