My husband and I also don't color coordinate, but at least I want to make sure that I don't look overly casual or overly glamorous in comparison to what he is wearing and he does the same for me.
Actually, he first checks with me on what I'm wearing and then tries to compliment it.
My husband just commented on this the other day. I just got home from work and he had on his gym clothes (sweats/t-shirt) and we were going to get something to eat. He said I always feel bummy compared to you when we go out to eat like this. I laughed as said "Well, change because I'm not putting on sweats and a t-shirt."
I have by accident, we both have the same high school pullover sweater where our children attended. So if we both wear that sweater with jeans, that is the only time. And again, it's by accident.

I think it's nice to have the same taste in colors.
It helps when I shop for his clothes, too.
He used to own a dark red, V-neck sweater that made its way into my wardrobe. It's a good color and is a nice, casual sweater with jeans, plus I love the longer sleeves. Whenever I wear it, we always have the same conversation:
Him: I used to have a sweater just like that.
Me: No, you didn't.
Him: Yes, I did. That is my sweater, isn't it?
Me: No.
Him: You're wearing my sweater, aren't you?
Me: Possession is nine-tenths of the law.
Him: Sweater thief!
Me: You are more than welcome to wear any of my sweaters.

Hey!
How's life?
Oh, yeah. My husband and I both have the same t-shirts from my son's school.
He's a few inches taller than me, and I'm woman-shaped, but ... roughly, yeah. Every now and then he can't figure out why his jeans don't fit right, and it's because I accidentally put mine in his drawer.
