If you do not believe something is there, you are not shutting it out. Are you shutting out dragons and unicorns?

.
I have no interest in dragons or unicorns. They have no bearing on my eternal destiny. Should it come to pass that such things exist I will express an interest. And really it seems that atheists are the only ones bringing up the question of whether dragons or unicorns exist. Theists have no interest in those matters.

Too many people who claim to be rational believe that the universe and life just came out of nothing-all on its own. Poof! Logic and science dictates otherwise cause and effect. And then they close their minds to the alternative, calling it foolishness. Minds are close to the idea of a Prime Mover.

My point taken.

Good. Then you should understand when I tell you that I have no interest in your projections of god nor does that projection have any bearing on my destiny.

Too many people? What would be the proper number?

Logic and science do not dictate a cause and effect universe which concludes with a theoretical god running everything. When we do not know the answer, logic and science dictates that we state..."We do not know the answer." From there we can get into what is reasonable speculation, and what is unreasonable. That would be religious answers under the "Unreasonable."

Finally, would you please retire that sad and silly weapon favored by so many...the charge that those who do not agree with you are only that way because they are closed minded or insufficiently open minded. Do you not understand that anyone can say that of anyone with whom they have a dispute?
"You are closed minded."
"No! You're the one who is close minded!"
"No! You!"
"Double no you no tags back!"

Is that your idea of a good investment of your debate time? If not, drop that foolishness.

Debate time? What, please don't tell me you take this forum stuff seriously?

Giving atheists a bad time is a hobby of mine. I can't believe that anyone takes the charade of "debate" here seriously.

No one debates here. Argue? Yes. Pretend that anything here changes minds. (I laugh). The best thing about this place is real world application. I learn and when some atheist tells me I am wrong face to face I have a ready answer. My wife is impressed and I tell her I have forums like City-Data to thank.

Lighten up and enjoy the fun. It is fun. Right?

Spoken like someone who does not have faith that their arguments have any weight.

Substituting "lighten up" for "you are close minded" isn't progress.

More like someone who is secure in who they are and is into having fun.

progress? What is progress?

You do need to lighten up and have fun in places like this. If it ain't fun, why do it? No one wins here, you just get to spout off and vent. And as a side note. The closed minded quote is a fabrication of yours. Freudian slip?

You are not the first to suggest that we are wasting our time here. The few figures that have come out suggest otherwise.

Right! Wives usually tell you what you want to hear.

Really, I think they're more afraid of losing in the belief market now that their kids can be exposed to opposing viewpoints.

Good post. I think what we are doing on this website debating religion on the internet is the future of religion. There is no better way to take apart doctrines than on the internet. You can EASILY research and EASILY illustrate you findings. Can't do that anywhere else. The fact that we can talk openly without the threat of being murdered by terrorists helps a lot as well. At least I HOPE I won't get murdered for speaking my mind.
