The nice thing about this Lutheran church is the focus on the love and grace of God. Who in their right mind would tell a 4 year old about hell???
That's what I've seen in the Lutheran church I'm familiar with. The comment about telling children about Hell was in response to this post:

Since we're talking about a 4 year old and a 7 year old, I assumed that was who needed to learn about Hell. Why else would it have been posted in this thread?
I see no need to tell the kids about hell at their age. My faith is based on a desire to be with God, not a fear of hell. I actually don’t know, personally, of any Christian whose faith is based on fear.
How is that worse than the indoctrination that the non-religious give their kids?
I have no idea of what "indoctrination" goes on in non-religious homes. Unless you can provide any credible evidence of this indoctrination, I would simply say you are just making this up.
Ages four and seven. We have them for three weeks. Mother believes in God but was burned by Catholicism. No interest in church. So we are exposing them two different churches we attend. Vacation Bible School at the Lutheran and children service at the Evangelical Free on Sunday. They love both experiences. The older was disappointed the VBS was only for five days.
Free will is a wonderful thing. They love the stuff of God!
Religion is a great drug. It is truly mind-altering. But there can be negative “side effects.”
It is great that you have exposed your grandchildren to such powerful mind-altering things at such a young age.

I though the same thing, until my daughter's in-laws starting teaching FEAR and HELL to the grandchildren...Needless to say the fear and manipulation they were taught will take years to resolve...
For years the grandchildren used to tell us they did not want us to go to hell so why didn't we repent. The youngest, I think she was 6 or 7 at the time, even told my wife it was too late for her as she was divorced and already going to hell..
