Hmmm... you're going to have to show me. If you "stayed in your own lane" as regards atheist what would that look like?
Just what it looks like...only "staying in my own lane" promoting my own Beliefs...and just noting others and responding when they criticize and/or mock others for holding differing Beliefs from them.
I do not initiate slams...I respond to slams by others.
Militantly posting on the internet. One is not a true atheist if you are not posting while wearing camo pants, while caressing your Heckler and Koch.
By accept and tolerate, he means bashes and mocks them as he tells them they are wrong, just like atheists do.
I do not initiate slams...I respond to them.
Yes...it is wrong to slam, and I note that.
Of course...many perpetrators will play like they are the victim for being pulled up short on the deeds they initiated...that's standard for the type.
I'll bite. Because they can and should. Their views are equally as valid as anyone else's. That's what makes the world go round; different ways, different views, different insights or opinions of the universe and reality. It'd be a boring stagnant hell if we all thought the same.
I'd go on to say that there's just as much religion in atheism and fighting for that view/cause, as with the feverish variety of theists. We have people with opinion on either side, and then we have those hardcore folks at the extremes of either side who act and operate much the same. They never can rest for simple disagreement, and it becomes personal, emotional, and often militant. That's when talk breaks down and it digresses to a lower level.
I agree there should be open discussion on any topic that relates to religion and spirituality in a forum called R&S. All positions deserve equal representation. That is not even a question. Now that we agree that Atheism is as much a religion, with all the accoutrements as any other, of course it makes perfect sense that it is represented here.
But there should be at least one place where instead of fighting for a cause there can just be exchange of ideas, where we can find commonalities rather than focus on the differences. If one needs to fight, one can go boldly forth to the specific religious forums such as Christianity, Judaism etc all live, and invade their space, where by happy accident Atheism also lives. I believe these forums have stricter rules of conduct as well.
This forum R&S can function as a rational space of tolerance and ideas. It was once called Religion and Philosophy. We can return to that spirit even if it has no such title once Philosophy got separated.
Religious forums? Seems like a waste of time and electrons. Why post on a forum of which is devoted to a subject of which holds no relevance to one. I don’t knit or fly airplanes. I don’t visit knitting or airplane forums. So why all the none-spiritual people on this forum? Uncertain about one’s belief system? Perhaps.
If I’ve asked this question before, forgive me. I am simply perplexed.
I understand the temptation for atheists. The reasons are many; curiousity, anger, intellectual gymnastics, and even boredom.
What I don't understand is the animosity I percieve when a Christian shares their thoughts and opinions on " their" forum.
What's good for the goose, is good for the gander.
This is NOT the christian sub-forum. I don't go up in the christian sub-forum.
It's also not a praise forum.
For some reason...the "Anti's" equate "not a praise forum", with "insult & mock differing Beliefs/Believers forum".
Nobody said they expected or even wanted it to be "praise only".
But that's different from vicious insults and nasty mocking of those that hold Religious Views...including interrogating demands of "objective evidence & proof" for Beliefs...referring to The Faithful as "Fanatics", "delusional", "mentally ill", etc...referring to the Deities with vulgar invectives...mocking the Sacred Writings/Books...claiming that Religions are "reprehensible"...and on and on.
