I hear ya, friend, and welcome to the Circle. Better be careful with that, though. I'm a pretty hefty guy (6 feet tall, 250 pounds). I once sat too long in a sweat lodge -- cross-legged, obviously -- and my legs went to sleep from the knees down. I mentioned this to the leader, and in the next round he asked for help to cure the problem. Nothing happened that night, but over the next two weeks I somehow lost 14 pounds.

No, I am not kidding!

That's about 6kg! In two weeks, you must have been doing some pretty intense exercise.
A couple of weeks ago I stood in one spot, without moving my feet, for about two and a half hours. By the time I decided to move my feet felt like solid lumps of old ham. And yes, there is something not quite right in my head, and that's why I stood on the spot for two and a half hours.

Did you keep the 6kg off? Did you lose more?

Nope. The weight loss was unexplained by anything I did or did not do, and it did not continue past the orginal 14 pounds.

I was sitting here thinking.......having to get up in 6 hours and not tired/sleepy.........that one of the wonderful things about America is its reliance on the rule of law. Frankly I think Islam is a terrible faith......reminds me of the Borg.......but the mayor of NYC was absolutely right. We cannot compromise our principles of freedom of speech and of faith. doesn't mean I won't play Indian and Muslim should sharia try to be imposed.

We argue about politics....many of us have firmly fixed positions. Lord (note the pun) knows we argue religion. But argue we do. and we do it well and with passion.

Isn't freedom grand?

Amen, Brother Goodpasture, amen.

[And from that other board you know how much I value the rule of law.]

Roman, I have a tendency to go for long walks also, but along the way I make it a point to meet people and converse with them, in that way they learn about me and I learn about them and if I wander too far I can always find a way back, someone is always willing to give me a ride back to where I started and I will do the same for them, so come sit for a while and if you feel that you're sitting too long, go for that walk, we'll still be here when you come back and you're always welcome to come and sit with us.osay

My brother I understand your feeling towards Islam, is like I have often said; Religion is a man-made, culture based doctrine that guides its people in the practice of spirituality. Religion is a good thing that in some cases has had bad consequences on some individuals spiritually. Not because religion is bad, but because it was applied in a bad way. Because religion is man-made and cultured based, it naturally has some of the rules and taboos of that particular culture built into it. Unfortunately for some, many cultures have chosen to use the fear of their deity to enforce the man-made rules of that culture.
It makes no difference what religious belief it may be, if it is applied in a way that will be detrimental to the people that believe in it, I would question the individuals who are applying and using that religion for their own personal use, don't blame the religion, blame the individuals using it the wrong way.
We are a country of individual rights and freedoms and our laws guarantee us that, as well it should be,but we are also a country full of immigrants, people who have come from other countries to enjoy the freedoms that we have and as long as these immigrants comply with our laws and not try to impose the laws of their culture in this country then I think we can all get along, we must learn to be tolerant and respectful to a certain point and we must never let our freedoms ever be compromised by any religious organization whether it be Christianity or Islam.

I will accept the hand of my Muslim and Christian brother and treat him as an equal as long as he will respect me and treat me the same. I can do and ask for no more than that.osay

And of any brother or sister, for that matter.
