Prayer for Barack Obama

By the power of the truth of compassion and love, may this noble leader,
Barack Obama, be blessed with courage.
May he always be in harmony with his highest ideals.
May he have clarity and wisdom,
and may the radiance of his heart be an inspiration and guiding light
for countless beings in these troubled times.
May he be safe from all harm and may he live a long life!

Sarwa Mangalam

may all beings benefit!

In today's scary world, he could use prayer from all of us.

That is a beautiful prayer. And may all people of goodwill gently remind each other to keep looking up.

Obama doesn't need prayer, so don't waste your time on praying for him. Spend that time doing something that's actually useful, like volunteering your time.

Prayer did not help George W. so why would it help Obama? He is facing the same problems as his predecessor, we can only hope he has the wisdom and tenacity to handle them...not to mention the correct advice from his staff.

Maybe he doesn't need prayers but I don't think he would be offended by them. Cough.

Do what you can as kindly as you can as often as you can?

"Suddenly there was a great burst of light through the Darkness. The light spread out and where it touched the Darkness the Darkness disappeared. The light spread until the patch of Dark Thing had vanished, and there was only a gentle shining, and through the shining came the stars, clear and pure."

What, you actually think that prayer has an effect? If your god is omniscient, you don't need to pray. It's not like it's going to change his mind, or bring his attention to something he didn't see. Why not just get off your couch and do something useful instead?

Desiderata

It is not my place to tell you anything but the OP's intent deserves to be treated respectfully. Your words are a bit harsh and you are making some assumptions that are incorrect.

'Pray'--how do you define it. Rhetorical question and I don't need a response. FYI.
It's a beautiful early Spring day here--in the SE/US and I won't ruin such a gift with hostile words.

Point taken, thank you.

There are a few things wrong with this prayer in the eyes of Fundamentalist:

1. The name of the person who wrote it sounds "Islamish." Reason for rejection.

2. It does not mention Jesus or God so it must be viewed with suspicion.

3. Notice how some of them were picking at every detail in Rick Warren's prayers at the inauguration and he is a Christian.

Other than that, sounds cool to me.
