Don't cheat the system, OP. Your medical professional should be more than willing to provide you the necessary documentation to prove your need for an emotional support animal.
Only a Qualified Medical Professional you are UNDER THE CARE OF.....can give you a letter.
Sounds like you have untrained animal you are trying to pass off as an ESA. Which means you are hurting the small percentage of people who TRULY need one.
Emotional Support Animals are for persons with a mental disability or a mental condition that is bad enough to affect their quality of life.
If you have a mental condition bad enough to affect the quality of your life, you have a mental health care provider. That mental health care professional will write you the letter that says you can not live a normal life without your ESA dog.
And guess what, OP. When you appear to rent an apartment bearing a letter from your doctor certifying that you are crazy, guess how a landlord reacts to that?

Holy **** dude. How damn ignorant can you possibly be?
I understand your frustration with people abusing the system, but to call people "crazy" just because they benefit from an ESA is the same kind of BS that keeps up the stigma of mental illness and treatment.

You think it benefits a tenant who labels themselves upfront as being so emotionally fragile they need their pet certified as a medical aid is someone you want to be in a contractual relationship with?
You are better off just saying you have a pet and keeping your emotional needs private.
The majority of those claiming the need for an emotional support animal are simply trying to circumvent no pet rules, have gotten a breed nobody wants to rent to or who don’t want to pay pet fees. Internet ESA letter mills have contributed to the problem and are the reason for them being viewed as such a joke.
