My sister and brother-in-law, both on disability in California, have a house, and that disqualifies them from Section 8 and from food stamps. They do get health care from Medicaid. They get some assistance with their phone bill. Maybe with electricity - I don't know. Nothing more than that.

$1 (One US Dollar).

Social Security will not issue a disability or retirement check less than $1.

I think there's a general misconception that there is a minimum Social Security benefit. There isn't.

I would say this erroneous misconception is caused by idiots who refuse to accept the reality that your OASI and SSDI benefits are calculated based on your average monthly earnings, not what you "paid into the system."

And the reason people falsely and irrationally focus on what they "paid into the system" is due to the fact that they stupidly believe that Social Security is their own personal private retirement pension hedge fund investment annuities savings 401(k) plan account, even though the law clearly states in no uncertain terms that Social Security is an insurance program.

I noticed people seem to have an extraordinarily difficult time grasping the concept of insurance....lot of that going around lately.

They are getting X dollars between the 3 of them. Suddenly after 8 months, they can't pay a $50 expense. I'm not in a position to ask their income. So, the expense will be removed from their budget in March or it will not. We'll see.

I did assist them with medications a few months back. They have Medicare part A-B-C-D.
There was some confusion between pharmacy and Medicare as the medication had been transferred from a pharmacy in another state. So there was a delay in getting it filled.
They tried to charge it to plan C and it was supposed to be plan D, or vice versa.
So, they do have Medicare because they are on SSDI.
I have no knowledge of food stamps, and as far as section 8 housing they rent a mobile home.
