LOL ! My best guess is that in the end you'll settle down precisely where you are now.

Settled only b/c of the grandbabies. But perhaps it's not such a bad place after all. Home is where the heart is, despite the drawbacks.

Agreed. As we have said in the state "Make it in Massachusetts". It is not a bad state to begin with. If for no other reason there is plenty of things to do here. There is the ocean not far. There are mountains to ski and hike. There are lakes and streams to fish in. There is an educated population and good schools. There are excellent hospitals and health care facilities. There are lots of golf courses (though there is a season to begin). We have the Red Sox and the Patriots and now the Bruins. Sorry basketball fans, the Celtics just don't interest me anymore. This state has a whole lot.

City of Mountain Home, Arkansas is located in north central Arkansas. Mountain Home has a population of about 13,000 people. Citizens can access Bull Shoals Lake, Norfork Lake, and the White River in fifteen minutes. The city also offers many shopping centers, theatres, and many golf courses.
Is Mountain Home close to Eureka Springs? That whole area is stunningly beautiful. Eureka is like a Swiss Alpine Village. Full of artists, historic homes, etc and surrounded by beautiful lakes. Branson is up the road about an hour. I can see why you would like this area. We were married at Eureka Springs (drove from Tulsa). It's a really special place. Arkansas is very reasonable as far as home prices and property taxes go.

Not all that close. But the Ozarks are spectacular and have their own, unique charm. That's why many of us identify with the region rather than the states of AR, MO or OK. A true Ozarker is an Ozarker. The state doesn't matter much.

The only way to tell which one of those states you are in is the gas prices.

The Ozark region parts at least, although there are some vegetation and forestation differences as well as cultural to a degee. Major differences elsewhere.

How is the hurricane risk in Eureka Springs? Sure sounds like a lovely town, but I wonder how ES has been impacted in recent years with the big storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, moving through the SE US. I don't know specifically about ES, which is what I was wondering about. I'd love to visit sometime and see the historic homes and lakes.
