Mine is usually okay, 115/70 or 80. Today it was 140/82 but I think I'm still feeling the effects of the colonoscopy prep from 4 days ago. I'm asking because they keep lowering the bar for what's normal, same thing with cholesterol. Pharma wants all of us drugged up and shut up but if there's a natural way, I'm on it.

I am not recommending anyone else do this, but I've had good response with taking magnesium supplements and a friend takes coQ10 to keep BP under control. I've always had 120/80 but this past six months has been stressful with the premature twins and their long hospitalization, along with other stuff going on, plus of course things being on my mind re: aging. I also find yoga helps me more than aerobic when the BP creeps up, but that is just me.

Compliments of chemistry (whatever works) it's usually 120/70 or real close, even with the neurological issues. Very soon I'll back off the meds and monitor to see if I still need them.

I have also lowered my BP using magnesium.

I take magnesium, I eat nuts and flaxseed as well as Ceylon cinnamon.

I love hearing about any homeopathy remedies you all might have.

Last time I was tested my BP was 118/76, which is normal. I've also heard that cinnamon helps lower BP. FWIW we love to cook with cinnamon and we both have low BPs. So who knows, maybe that's a factor.

I do think your BP rating can be easily influenced by all sorts of outside factors, so I wouldn't get too worried by a single test. If you consistently get high levels, that's a little more worrisome. One time I had a high reading, and the doctor thought it was due to the fact that I had almost been in a fender bender outside his office. He had me relax in the waiting room for 20 minutes and sure enough, my rate was a lot lower when hes tested me again. Something to think about.

Hmmmmm.... maybe we should add "Cinnamon Girl" to our list of songs that suddenly seem to have new meaning now that we're in our senior years....

Heh, I've always had normal BP but, shortly before I lost my job at age 67.5 my BP reading at docs was over 160. Went to doc again about a month after job loss, BP had dropped to 125. He asked what had happened. LOL .......

Normal for me now - and has been for 20 years is 125/78, sometimes under 120, sometimes in low 130's. When I was really skinny back in the day, BP was about 115/70. Remember dentist one day asking if it was always that low. Gotta say at that level, I never had a lot of energy. Might have been too thin, as well. So, I'm happy with anywhere between 120-135/80 now. That's good enough. Not taking medication for some arbitrary normal of 120 or less. That's silly. Should lose 20 lbs, probably would go back under 120.

Do take CoQ10 and/or Quinogel (hydrosoluble ubiquinol CoQ10), don't salt my food, drink raw apple cider vinegar regularly, eat apples - which are supposed to be very good for blood pressure. Walk several times a week - don't seem to be able to manage it daily. Gotta say just added the ubiquinol, take CoQ10/L-carnitine one day, ubiquinol the next. Think I'm moving to just ubiquinol in future. Really feel good since I began it a few weeks ago - much stronger. Read somewhere anyone over 40 should be using ubiquinol, not CoQ10. Guess they're right.

Mine has been on a trampoline lately. I have to check before taking a med. It may be really low already or in the stroke range. Drives me nuts. Diet makes no diff like it used to. At one time I could just eat potassium rich foods and all was fine. Even that now and extra potassium capsules don't help. It's still a daily case of dodge ball. I might get a 127/65 reading one morning and a 175/101 the following. I already limit salt anyway possible and take water pills. And also usually have compression stockings on. It's a daily battle to day the least. Today all OK, no meds needed.
