Does anyone have suggestions for establishing a "new life" socially after age 70. Somewhere I heard that bingo is a good start. Any comments on that? I am also considering trying to get a job. I have some health issues, but; I feel good and all my numbers are good and I still walk to get groceries.
There are newcomer clubs and meet up groups in most towns. The ones in Asheville are very active. They can help.

Also I can't say enough times the senior center.

Scrabble and (casual, fun, friendly) bridge are way more fun. But aside from a little circle of "unfriendly" bridge players (who apparently, have done absolutely nothing all their lives except play bridge with the same partner or tournament only) I can find nothing of the sort in an over 55 community of 302 homes. Scrabble, I've come to realize, is out of the question.

Bingo has become such a twisted game I've lost interest in it. Just call the numbers for petesakes - and up, down, across, or diagonal is enuff! One cover all a day is enough, too.

Diet, exercise, and a good amount of physical activity for those who are so able. It's easier to retain your mobility and physicality than it is to start from a low point and build back up.

Keep weight in normal range, no smoking, not much alcohol, exercise and stay away from sick people. We've made it a practice also to avoid gatherings of people in confined spaces, like airplanes. Too much possibility of exposure to sickies.
