Is this an attempt at a credible argument about the thread topic? Please expound on why people shouldn't have a family? Are you saying people that work at Walmart shouldn't have kids?
I would say it is very credible and at the heart of the issue . Family planning is core to financial planning. One of the trade offs of having kids is resources used for them is diverted from other possibilities including investing. It is a personal choice with life long consequences. There are many affluent folks who purposefully only had two kids who resent being taxed to support those who had six they can't afford.
That's part of the problem. The number of people needing assistance has doubled and the number to pay the tab hasn't. That's one of the reasons birth rates are key to the issue. It is not just enough to talk about who does and doesn't pay taxes but most importantly what taxes do they pay and what programs do those taxes fund.

Where in the Constitution does it say only the affluent can afford children? Honestly, that's the basis of this argument. To say that poor people shouldn't be allowed to have children is a flawed ideal.

Really, really focus on budgeting; identifying, accepting that certain expenses are basic (needs), and certain ones are wants (desires). Then 20 to 25 times the basic expenses and you are good to go. My error, and I did misread it as thousand.
Not in the constitution and I didn't say or imply it was. There is how ever a reality of dollars and sense. The issue is others having to pay for theirs and someone else's children . At no point did or have I ever suggested limiting the number of children anyone could have. The problem is who pays for our children and have we exceeded our ability and will to do so. Reality not constitutional.
