LookinatFL, thank you so much for your post! My husband and I have no children, and he is no longer working, so we are trying to figure out retirement plans as well. We are late 50s.
It's always heartening to hear from those who have been helped whether or not I've been a part of that process. Being in our late 60s and retired for going on seven years whatever we did that keeps us comfortably afloat was likely more luck and accident than knowledge but whatever works !

Perryinva, the CFP believes that I can move retirement up (meaning I could retire in 6 years rather than 10 years). We will be meeting again in 2 weeks to continue refining my plan. I'm still not sure I really believe 6 years is possible. I worry so much about being unable to support myself. I also have the problem of what to do with my time in retirement. I haven't figured that part out yet.
