Umm... go back to Helena in the middle of winter and see how it feels then.

One of my old bosses owns a summer home up there. When he talked of retirement I asked if he would live there all year 'round he said he had already experienced winter in Korea and that was enough.

Winter can be very isolating. Appleton, WI falls into that category. Also if you lean left what's happening in Wisconsin is rocking it's world - and not in a good way.

I actually like the area just east of Tahoe....... it's a growing community. Winters are milder than the midwest. But you must be OK with WIND. Constant wind. And yes, it's not that close to Tahoe.... but there is beauty to that as well.

This is so much bologna.

We travel all over the west - by car and plane. There's a lot to see in California (Yosemite, Tahoe, etc.) within a day's drive. You don't have to state-hop to get away.

You aren't from here, are you......
