I have stuff hanging all over my kitchen, but I use it all the time too. Nothing has time to get greasy or dirty.
Yikes. All that stuff - especially near the stove. If my kitchen was like that - all those pots and pans would be covered with cooking "gunk" in no time flat (even if I used them a lot). Robyn
I had a cleaning lady come monthly for a year after I had a knee replacement...our home is not big (1640 sq ft)
and it's a one level so after a while I wanted to go back to doing the cleaning myself.
I've thought about this over the years but then realized I'd feel compelled to clean before the cleaning lady arrives. geez...
What I do the morning or night before they come is to put everything away and make sure the dishes are all caught up (at least in the dishwasher). That way the team can actually clean. When they are done, I have a clean house AND everything is in its proper place. Once a month.
Ah, back before I lost my house, because my company downsized, I had the freedom to hang things on the wall & built some open cabinets which held a lot. Then I put up pegboard & hung up my utensils. A tiny kitchen but it worked.
I can't do that here because it's a rental.
Have you tried those sticky hooks? I can't put anything in the walls here either, so I put about 8 sticky tapes on the back of my spice rack and so far they're holding it up.
I also use the tape to hold a piece of wood against my hutch and then I screwed some hooks into the wood and hung my measuring spoons there. I used the sticky hooks to hold my measuring cups (couldn't find any small enough for the spoons).

About once a month I have to do a full clean in my kitchen. I have to polish the copper pots anyway and when I do that, I go around with Windex and clean the canisters (I have 7) and all the spice jars. The canisters seem to get more dust on them than anything else and the spice jars get sticky when I use them with greasy hands. It take me about a half hour to clean all that. Otherwise my kitchen is so small I practically clean the whole thing every time I do dishes.

I did buy a bunch of command hooks and they don't work on these textured walls. I was able to put some inside the cupboards & now, after listening to everyone I think I will put away duplicates, wire whiskies, wooden spoons, etc & that will give me more space. I can then decide if I really need them or if I take out ones I do use frequently.
I hadn't thought about the sticky tape and wood idea. There are a couple of wood items I have that are in the dining room that I can use that way. That will help a great deal.
