I am 68 and want to go to Burning Man in Black Rock desert of Nevada.
Everything about me screams Burning Man is not for me but I would really like to go.
I'm a registered republican, worked my whole life, very conservative in my social view and approaching senior citizen age and yet I want to go to Burning Man?
I've been looking for several years and I love everything about it; the people (so different from me but that's not a bad thing), the art work and just the setting.
Yeah, I really want to go.
Now, if you have been there how do you go and stay comfortable? What is the deal to getting in and well... blending in?
Now two things on my bucket list; follow the trail of Bonnie and Clyde and go to Burning Man.
I have been to the Black Rock Desert (NE Nevada) on several occasions over the years. It is an interesting place. No desire to go to Burning Man. Too much noise in what is generally a silent place.
It's not "weird". It's your life; do what you want to do.
How do you go, stay comfortable, and blend in? My guess is just do as you please and refrain from judging others who are doing as they please. It's OK to decline anything which makes you uncomfortable.
No clue, I was 8 years old when the first Woodstock happened so I'm sure I had many more important things going on at that time like playing in the mud, running through the timber, riding my horse, jumping off the tire swing in the tree........
Nicet4, from what I know of you on here, and what I have read/heard about Burning Man, I don't think you would like it. Wikipedia has a detailed article. Radical gifting and dust storms. If you still think you want to do it, go for it, but I don't think I would much like it. Possibly you would, though.
