The postmistress at the p.o. around the corner asked if I'd like to work there as a front-desk clerk. I could learn how to do that if need be!
I think the post office front desk job would be so much easier than driving 100 or more miles round trip to make a home care visit - especially in winter.
And to have a job right around the corner from your house!
Plus think of all the towns people you'd meet staffing the front desk! Sounds like a wealth of riches.
Maybe not the same job satisfaction perhaps as serving people as a nurse though, and using nursing skills.
The postmistress job could be a lot of fun. It's close to your house and you would get a little social interaction a couple of days a week. Best of all, it's a desk job so it wouldn't be hard on your body. I would consider trying it.

Am waiting to see what the deal will be with the home health job. I could see having two clients a week to start and having two who live relatively near each other. After all, I drive 26 miles each way every week for Pilates.

Thank you. The kind words on this forum have helped my anxiety about the job.
Just remember that while they (employer) may be judging your performance, you too are judging whether or not this company is right for you.

OP, I'm glad to hear you found something on your terms. I used to teach full time and I don't think I could go back to it, but I sub now. That lets me use some of my skills but also lets me take off days any time I feel like it, leave the planning to someone else, avoid having to deal with parents, etc. I hope your new position is a good fit for you in that sort of way, playing to your strengths while avoiding some of the unpleasant aspects. It sounds like working with vets will be rewarding, too. Good luck!
