71yo... so I just made a list & checked:

22 addresses (+ 2 more cities where I only lasted a month while considering moving there & looking for work. That same single calendar year I had not only those 2 places plus 3 real addresses too in 3 different cities. My current home I have been in just about 22 years.)

After a while, I am going to post average and median moves by age. So those that post their age will be part of the calculation. those that don’t, I’ll do another calculation just by average addresses.

I love this! Unfortunately I haven't met anyone else who does, so I've been one of those lonesome drifters.

Glad I finally settled down a little. Those middle years sure were hectic.

I like this breakdown because it says more about the adult person rather than the parents.

Age 50
I'm coming up with at least 32 official address. Several periods of being "homeless"/nomadic or otherwise not tied to a residence, so there's some gaps that aren't counted. I've always rented, for a variety of reasons.

Age 0 to 18: 4
18-30: 17
30-40: 6
40-50: 5
My last couple of moves were not by choice and caused by COVID and the ongoing housing market frenzy. I've lived in the same area for nearly 10 years now, the longest I've lived anywhere since childhood. Guess I like it here.

Cost of my first apartment in 1992? It was a decent studio apartment, furnished, for $275/mo plus electric. I was able to afford it by working one minimum wage job full time (which at the time netted me something like $800-900/mo).

Since birth, 10 addresses. As an adult (moved from home at 21), 5. All were in Connecticut, except my current address in sunny Arizona.
