I believe North Kingstown is superior to East Greenwich — better character, scenery, amenities (especially beaches), etc. Plus, South County is a much better hospital than Kent County, and I’d rather go there in an emergency. The East Greenwich waterfront is kind of lackluster for the price tag — it’s no Wickford, that’s for sure.

Diversity isn't limited to race/ethnicity.

Is flooding as much of an issue as in Barrington?

Nobody addressed your question about flooding. FEMA has a flood zone map search tool.

If you enter "east greenwich RI" into the tool, you can move the map around town. Most of the town looks just fine. When I do the same for Barrington, it looks much worse. If it were me, I'd check the town's schools, police, fire, and town hall. If some of those are in flood zones, it's a hint that there will be a big bond issue eventually to replace the building on higher ground elsewhere in the town.

This tool didn't exist 11 years ago when I bought my house but I certainly looked on a topo map before buying my house.
