JULY 2018 - SACRAMENTO - New info

Average High temp was 93F (heat index)

HIGH TEMPS: Number of Days:

Heat Index
80's = 5 days
90's = 25 days

100's = One day (heat index)
(5 days of actual temp at 100 or more)

Average Low temp was 61F
LOW TEMPS: Number of Days:

70's = 1 day
60's = 24 days
50's = 6 days

*Heat Index - Because of Sac's very comfortable dew points, actual temps in the triple digits usually give a heat index of 2 to 3 degrees LESS than actual temp.

Anywhere there are forests in the West, cities are vulnerable to bad air.

SoCal has been dealing with destructive wildfires for the last 100 years; be careful what you wish for because the entire state is a tinder box and the hills of Southern Cal are still extremely vulnerable as they have always been.

As the ocean warms SoCal could become vulnerable to Hurricanes because of Climate Change. I was in New Zealand earlier this year and a Cyclone(the Southern Hemishere's Hurricanes) broke all records by traveling the furthest south of any Cyclone in recorded history. The last few Hurricanes on our side of the Pacific traveled much further north than normal....all they need is slighty warmer water. Hopefully a Hurricane will never hit the Southern Cal Coast, but who would have thought the largest forest fire in California history would burn Mendocino County.
Nope not happy.

Just pointing out that with climate change Sac is even more miserable than it was when you started this thread.

Summer in Sac is MISERABLE.

I used to always go up to Sacramento / Placer County Roseville on the weekends. On a yearly basis I always went to the CA State Fair for 25+ consecutive years in a row. Don't do that anymore because the hot weather is hazardous to my health.

It is just to hot up there.

Because everything is "Made in China" so very industrious which is the sacrifice of pollution and bad air.

Since June 1, 2018, How many Days of 100F plus?

Austin, Texas
Heat Index/feels like temp = 58 Days!
Actual = 18 Days

Phoenix, AZ
Combination of Heat Index and Actual = 55 Days!

Sacramento
Heat Index/feels like temp = 1 Day
Actual = 8 Days

Sacramento Dew Points(humidity/heat index) are always in the Very Comfortable Range which gives a heat index temp of 2 to 3 degrees COOLER than actual temp.

Austin Dew Points are almost always in the very UNCOMFORTABLE Range which gives a heat index/feels like temp of 10-12 degrees HOTTER than actual temp.

Phoenix is sort of a wash; as June gives heat index temps 2-5 degrees cooler; yet July gives heat index temps of 1-5 degrees HOTTER than actual temp.

Well I was in Sac today and it was fine until noon then BLAZING balls hot.
Think I would do early 4am workouts and runs and spend rest of days inside A/C or at the river swimming after I move here.

Well it is the dead of summer, and more than 75% of the rest metros around the nation have the same or worse heat, and none of them COOl as well as Sacramento does consistently on a hot day.

Most other cities across the nation will not give you "fine until noon" on consistent basis throughout the summer. We are at our hottest part of the summer now, last two weeks of July, first two weeks of August.

We are getting ready for a float down the American River today, weather will be perfect for that. Personally, I think it is the best way to spend a relaxing summer day in Sacramento.

It was comfortable well past noon today, and The American River provided our cool for the day.
