I like to get some feedback of what you think of the area near O Street between 16th and 19th streets

An apt has come to my attention and i am in Nyc So i cant visit it. The professional photos that were sent to me look really nice and so is the reasonable rent.

There are a lot of apartments on that stretch, so street parking is almost always full, plus it's close enough to all the restaurants on Capitol and L that any open spaces get used for "overflow" parking on evenings and weekends. So if you have a car, make sure you have off-street parking. Other than that it's a very convenient neighborhood for all the amenities of downtown, and there are streetlights along O that make night-time strolling more comfortable. 16th and 19th Street are both very busy during rush hour (but child's play compared to NYC rush hour traffic) but O Street, 17th and 18th are pretty quiet.

Thank you. The building has parking. I

did not want to give the exact numerical cross street for security reasons.

Ok i am going to fly out an quite possibly sign a lease.

I've been living very close to there for several months and that part of O Street is actually my favorite place to park. But yeah it's often full. Still, I've been satisfied with street parking--it sometimes takes a few minutes' hunting but I've never had much trouble finding a free spot somewhere in my permit zone. (Somebody with a different schedule might have more problems, though... or less, I suppose.)

It seems like a nice enough place to live. Looks pretty enough, and fairly peaceful, but close to more active areas. Occasionally I see a cat outside an apartment there and pet it. Homeless people can occasionally be seen, but they don't seem to consider it a begging place or a sleeping place. There is generally light pedestrian activity on those streets (and much more activity a few blocks away, near Midtown's stores or the state government buildings). Capitol Park is close by and is very pretty.

I lived on 18th St between N and O for a while and it was sketchy back then -- but that was almost 20 years ago and the neighborhood has improved a lot. Even at its sketchiest I really loved it over, repeated car thefts notwithstanding. It's a neat neighborhood with lots of amenities within walking distance. I would have been better off not having a car at all, something that has not really been true at other places I've lived in downtown/midtown.
