Hi - I am an RN and moving to Utah in December. My husband is in the Air Force and will be stationed at Hill AFB in Ogden. I am looking into the Unveristy Hospital for employment, as I prefer teaching hospitals.

Just prepare your husband - salaries are LOW here. I am coming from California where I am making $41.00/hr with only 1.5 years experience. I am seeing salaries at about half that!

Good Luck to you

Jennabugs is right. I hate to be negative, but I can't imagine a CNA and RN's combined wage hitting 100K here. Many of the male nurses I worked with(who were the primary bread-winners of their family) were going back to school for CRNA or NP because they said they were barely squeaking by. Get a realistic idea of what you'd make here before deciding to move. Housing prices have risen drastically in the last few years but nursing wages remain low. My family in St. George has seen house prices double in their neighborhood in just the last 2 years. Our built in the 80's, 2000sf "starter home" in a suburb of SLC just sold for $275,000. Starting wage for RNs here is around $22/hour; I don't know about CNAs. It is a great place to live and I've enjoyed being an RN here but luckily my husband's job pays the bills.
