Default SLC area traffic

I will be relocating to Salt Lake City in November. I will be working up by the airport and was considering renting in Sandy or Draper. What would the average commute during rush hour be from these places to the airport? What about the average commute during non-rush hour periods? I know that mapquest has it as a 20 minute drive, but I don't know how realistic that is.

I don't think mapquest is factoring in traffic and road conditions.

If you live in Sandy or Draper, you will be driving in traffic for 15-20 miles. If your working at the airport, seriously consider living out west where I do, or even farther into Tooele. Tooele is the same distance but I don't think traffic is a factor at all. I live maybe 6 or 7 miles west the airport and it would take 10 minutes at most because its pretty much freeway/highway the whole way. It's a lot cheaper out here too.

My husband works at the airport too...and currently he is staying in Kaysville..well, one night it took us an hour and a half to get to the RV!!!! The traffic on that 1-15 is terrible! Once you come around near that big smoke stack thing- it is stop and go, stop and go, stop and go. We will be living in Tooele county and so one day after work, I met him at work and we drove to Tooele, 20 minutes no problems with traffic at all! That drive has never been stop and go for him. He is so so so glad that we chose to live in Tooele county ... and several co- workers have told him that if commuting to the airport- Tooele is the best place to live!
