I haven't tried them yet so I can't say, but what is not in their favor is I happen to feel that Crown/Apollo have perhaps the most perfect french fries on the planet. Thick, firm and crispy on the outside while tender on the inside. I seriously doubt In and Out Burger will outdo that. The char grilled burgers are also THE way to go. No fried hamburgers for me thanks. That's one thing I can say for Utah is they "get it" when it comes to burgers.

you probably won't like the fries, because they are thin, but the burger is absolutely scrumptous

I wonder if California palms will be imported and placed outside the Northern Utah locations? Will they survive the winters?

Also, the Draper and Orem locations are already on the website, you have to select the view all locations list. This is getting exciting. If anyone hears of an opening date, please post it here.

On another note, a new McDonalds and Olive Garden are preparing to open in September across from "The District" in South Jordan. I'm guessing that Olive Garden will be a complete zoo for quite a while if not permanently. The crazy family scene isn't my idea of a good restaurant experience, so I'll likely have to look elsewhere. I've tended to prefer Macaroni Grill for such food, but I'll keep my eye on it to see how it develops. As for In N' Out I think they will end up a wild success regardless. They have their niche so no worries. It ain't no Burger King that's for sure.........

"crazy family scene"? It must be South Jordan. I go to the Olive Garden in Sugar House and I've never seen a crazy scene of any kind, except a lot of customers. Very few kids.

Yeah, I've been to the Sugarhouse one as well, and it was delightfully peaceful. I would love to see this new one be the same, but I won't be buying that lotto ticket soon ;-)

The one in Sandy can get crazy on Friday/Saturday nights... but it has died down with the recession.

Do that many people really eat at Olive Garden? I had no idea frozen, preservative-laden food that was shipped cross-country, stored for up to 7 days, then microwaved and/or boiled back to "life" was so popular, even in Utah!

Especially in the suburbs, we don't have many options other than the chain restaurants.

Zionide,

The food maybe as you describe at Olive Garden, but I still find it very tasty. The one in Riverdale and the one in Layton are always packed. I have no doubt that one almost anywhere but the South Pole would be very busy.
