Hey folks,

I am traveling to San Antonio march 4-9 and 99 was the last time I was there.

What is the gay scene like there? Decent bars/clubs? Restaurants? Other things??

I of course will be doing all the normal touristy stuff during the day, but after dark I will want to "let loose".

I am 39, white, single, don't drink excessively, and just looking to enjoy my mini-vacation.

Any suggestions?

That's a pretty broad question. But I can give you my limited knowledge. Bonham Exchange is downtown by the Alamo. Great place for dancing and late night fun. The strip on Main Street has a few bars and a restaurant. Sparky's is nice and Pegasus is next door. Across the street is Luther's Restaurant. it's all in a central area just north of downtown. More than that I don't know. Maybe a more specific question as to what your looking for will get a better answer.

Try First Friday, which is located downtown in the Southtown area. Art galleries, art vendors, bars, and restaurants participate in this. Very good mix of people and completely inclusive of all types.

For bars/clubs check out Main street just north of 35, you will find the Saint, Heat, Essence, Venue, and a few others. For a quick meal try Lulu's and Luther's for late night eats in that area. There is Bonham Exchange downtown.

I've heard that the Bonham is only good on Friday nights and attracts a really young crowd. There was a club on Blanco Rd (the northside's only bar) on weekends. Not sure if it's still there. PM if you need more info.

Avoid the Bonham. It's not gay friendly anymore. Stick with N Main. It's much friendlier, cleaner and safer.
