in San Antonio . i had planned to relocate to Laredo but circumstances forbade me that . now we are planning to make San Antonio our home and were wondering what grocery chains are in town and witch ones are biggest and/or best or better than others .

IIRC, there are 5 Sam's Club locations and 3 Costcos. Between the two, I prefer Costco.

I went into the La Fiesta on Ingram the other day, and I have to give them much kudos....they have a very appealing store. I was pleasantly surprised. It's out of my way, but if I lived over there, I would probably shop there. Clean, neat, organized and very well-stocked.

thank you all for info . i live in Arizona and grocreis here are high. nearest store (Safeway is a fifty mile round trip) is fairly new store but doesn't carry all that much next SAfeway is 90 mile round trip is very well stocked but still lavks some of the more varied foodstuffs . so i am looking forward for some shopping .

H.E.B. is the dominant grocery chain in San Antonio, and the only one that you can pretty much count on to be in your neighborhood, wherever you decide to locate. Aside from the grocery departments in Super Walmart, Super Target, Costco, and Sams, there are no national grocery chains here.

I went to one yesterday and its also out of the way but the fruit was prized pretty good and it was nice and clean. Will make another stop there in the future.
