They filmed quite a bit of it around town.
-Crownridge
-Little Flower Basilica (they set up a fake carnival outside)
-The last corner house on San Pedro in front of San Fransisco Steak house
-Elm Creek
-A few other places I can't think of...it has been a while since I saw it.

I watched that but I didn't see anything familiar. I could tell that a few scenes could have been in SA. Most of it was filmed in Los Angeles (like the title may have implied).

Spy Kids (the first one) had a scene which originated from Milam Park. The kids take off with their jetpack, fly down Houston Street (you can see the Gunter Hotel) and end up in the "La Kressa" store. Some CG effects were added to make the buildings look slightly different.

--Speaking of Miss Congeniality -- my family and I were surprised to accidentally be in one of the scenes. We happened to go to the Folklife Festival that year - '99 or '00?...can't remember which. I had heard they would be filming some some SA scenes that day. My wife and two young sons were walking toward the Institute of Texan Cultures and noticed the cameras. We joked that it would be funny if we ended up in the movie. We forgot all about it. But opening weekend of the movie, friends started calling us and saying they saw us in the movie. We never went to theaters to see it, but did buy it when it came out on DVD. We're in the montage scene when it first cuts to SA, and shows some sites around town. Anyway, it's kind of a kick now when it comes on cable and the kids can show their friends their "starring role"...ha!

fish,

In 1927, Paramount Studios filmed the silent movie "Wings" in San Antonio,
and the world premiere was at the Texas Theatre on Houston Street.

Wings won the first Academy Award for Best Picture,
and, maybe, Best Special Effects.

I know there was a scene in Johnny B. Good, I think when he went to college(?), where he drove around Incarnate Word College. UIW is a really pretty school.

The movie "Michael" with John Travolta has scenes shot in New Braunfels, specificaly Gruene Hall. Also "8 Seconds" was filmed in San Antonio, some scenes at John T. Floore Country Store. I also believe I have seen a B list movie back in the late 80's early 90's that had the Tower of the Americas in it, and I believe Brandon Fraiser the star of the movie "The Mummy" was in the movie, but im not sure what it was??

Thanks! Also "The Newton Boys" was filmed partially in Hondo. "American Outlaws" was filmed here.
