We are military and will not be staying long in San Antonio. I want to take my husband to a really fun, very Texan restaurant that has country dancing. Any suggestions?

I've never been, but there's a place called "Cowboys Dance Hall" on the north side that the folks on the radio are always talking about. I guess some pretty big names do shows there, too.

I dont think they have anything in that venue.. but.. you can always have a nice dinner near cowboys and then go to Cowboys Depending on what type of food you like.. But be forewarned.. Cowboys has concerts most nights.. meaning you pay more for entry..Cowboys (located on Loop 410 and IH 35). Now there is another place.. Midnight Rodeo.. which is located on Nacogdoches and Thousand Oaks (also does not serve food) Does not usually have concerts but has plenty of dancing... So it depends on the dinner you like.. there is a great couple of restaurants near both of them..

Doesn't Leon Springs Dance Hall serve dinner? Maybe it was just an event that I went to that was catered...

Floore's Country Store does for sure.

Does the Hanging Tree Saloon have food? Maybe too Texan (hole in the wall bar). I thought that Flores Country Store in Helotes had food. Check out their website and see if they have a good band... it might be dead if they don't have a good band. Midnight Rodeo or Cowboy Dancehall are the most popular western dance clubs in town.

If you're looking for a "Texan" experience head for Floores Country Store or Leon Springs Dance Hall. You might even check out Gruene Hall and the Grist Mill Restaurant next door for a piece of real Texas music history... but skip Midnight Rodeo or Cowboys- they're just countrified meat market nightclubs.
