Who is they? The football team or what? Something tells me this is the work of students not on the team. Which tells me the whole school is probably dirty.

you forgot to add the word "some" between "that" and "football" I played and was never arrogant or a bully

HA HA, Another issue. Seems football players have issues.

A(nother) Texas High School Player Gets Violent Towards a Ref | Complex

A little over a week ago, a couple of high school safeties annihilated a ref from behind in a video that made national headlines. You likely saw something about it. There was, after all, quite a bit of uproar.

It's a controversy you wouldn't want to be in the middle of, and though it's unlikely you'd ever attack a ref, it should serve as a warning to any of you out there who may be thinking about it. Going viral is rarely a good thing.

Enter different San Antonio-area senior Zeke Cardenas, who must've missed the local and national news, because he shoved an official this week after getting flagged for shoving an opposing player. It should be noted that this time the ref was facing Cardenas. We guess that's a slight improvement.

If you don't like build-up/suspense in your videos, simply fast forward the above footage to around the 40-second mark.

Cardenas was obviously ejected.

Don't they have attorneys? I can't believe anyone advising them would think going on GMA was a good idea.

I'm not buying their excuse. Even if a coach told you to intentionally tackle a referee...would you be stupid enough to do it?
Maybe the referee did say something racial to the players, maybe he didn't....but you have to wonder every time the race card is played these days.
Someone calls you a name, you don't use violence to get back at them...unless you're willing to pay for your actions.

Or maybe it was.
Getting them national exposure could be just what they want in order to get sympathy for what they did.
How else can they weasel out of this one?

Trying to get anything a football player does in TX is ok sympathy play. As pointed out, if the ref was racist - it would have surfaced before in today's world. Even if he was - you file a complaint.

They should get the book thrown at them. The assistant coach also and the head coach should probably be sidelined to teaching hygiene.
