My Son is in the beginning of a Legal Battle for Child Custody with his Ex Girlfriend.
She's one who likes to "Party" and heavily consumes alcohol.
She is to undergo a Drug and Alcohol Assessment and her Attorney is recommending Haven for Hope. I know they have many organizations there to assist people.
She's not homeless, mentaly ill, has a decent job, can afford an apt, etc. I don't know if her Attorney is playing the poor little rich girl card.
It sounds like my Son's Attorney will accept this.
My question is.....Can a proper and fair ( to my Son) assessment be done at a place like this or will she be able to BS the Staff into thinking she doesn't have a drinking problem.

Please don't get me wrong. I'm all for helping those who need it and I'm not badmouthing Haven for Hope or those it serves.

I think that type of assessment will be done by one of the partner agencies like center for healthcare services (although in not sure if that would be the organization doing it). Haven is compartmentalized by these different organizations shuffling residents from one agency to another. One organization does something completely different than another. While they work together on the same site they all gave their own home offices and organizations. With that being said it would be easy to just call on one of those organizations to provide their services. It very well could be that based on her address they are sending her to the closest organization office which is the haven location. I would have everyone double check and make sure they can indeed do that assessment at haven just to make sure because some agencies only serve specific clients at specific locations.

Have you asked HIS attorney what he thinks of this recommendation? Perhaps having a court appointed "assessment" vs one that would be bias towards either party would be the way to go on something this important.

I feel your pain...when our kids "split up" our grandchildren welbeing become a HUGE concern!!!!

Thank You Both Very Much

I talked to his Attorney Friday and brought this up. It was done to save her money. A Trial will be held on Monday the 4th and the evaluation was to be done by them.
If his Attorney doesn't feel good about the outcome she'll request a Court Ordered one.

This whole thing is a mess. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. It takes a roll on many.
I'm a wreck. All I can due is testify and pray that everything works out. It's so unfortunate that his Mother is using our Grandson as a Pawn.

Our prayers are with you, your son and your grandchild as all this gets sorted out. Just ensure that ANY and all evidence your son's attorney might need (FB posts, pic and comments are often QUITE helpful in substantiating such concerns) are given to your attorney before the trial to help strengthen your argument. At the same time, remember that is a two way street, so ensure your son has anything that could be detrimental to his position removed/blocked.

Please keep us posted! PRAYING your grandchild is placed correctly.
