Good post, mrstxcop. TV news tends to focus on the most salacious aspects of stories like this. Thanks for providing a different perspective.

SA has bike cops all over downtown. Women and men too admire them. They are all buff and healthy and friendly. No other city has cops like those guys and gals on bikes. They are always smiling and helping people, even with directions and acting as tour guides. In the background, thier real purpose is a cop. So the tourists like to get a picture and show folks backhome what they saw and did. I'm sure tourists who are on vacation will say and do things they normally would not do, propositioning a cop is one of them Try it in NY and your in jail.
I did not see the pictures, don;t want to. I do want the SA cops to keep a professional, friendly demeaner.
Hats off to Mr. and Mrs TXcop.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with boosting the image of the city in tourist's eyes and that type of friendly picture taking should be encouraged. However, anyone in uniform (FD and military included) should know where to draw the line and those pictures on WOAI took the line and threw it in the garbage.

I disagree. If this has been a photo op to misrepresent or purposely smear the reputation of these individutals, then maybe it would be yellow journalism. These guys simply used bad judgment....not only while they were on duty, in uniform, but also while amateur photos were being taken with intoxicated women. It wasn't just one or two questionable photos....there were enough to see this wasn't just a Kiss and run photo shot.....they were enjoying it.

I agree with MrsTxcop that our finest deal with this a lot, and the smart ones know to keep strict boundaries. These two were not only behaving poorly, but were neglecting their responsibilities of watching out for the safety and well being of their beat. I would imagine their peers are pretty unhappy with the fallout from this situation.....but they definitely needed calling out.

I don't think the pictures are as bad as you all say,
keep in mind, that maybe they were being nice and taking a picture with a few girls (tourists) and right before they take the picture they could bend over or lift their leg up.
There's nothing wrong with taking a break, talking to people and taking a few pictures. (Maybe they are friends of them)
You are not gonna find a profession in which people work 100% of the time when they are at work.

Now, the picture that I have a problem with is the one that shows a girl wearing the cops jacket,
I think there's no excuse for that.

Although I don't agree with what they did, don't throw them in with all the other Officers who do a very good job. Case in point, my brother who is a Detective that puts away sex offenders on a daily basis. (I have been told by him and boy I hear some crazy ones. not too many details) I just didn't like the "Typical cops" comment.

I saw the pictures and I didn't see the cops do anything wrong. The girls in the pictures are the ones acting indecent if anything. I actually think people are being way too prudish about this and making a huge fuss about nothing! Stories like this wouldn't even make the back page on some city's newspapers. Ohhh someone took funny pictures with cops and put them on myspace!!! Shocking!!!

LOL @ putting all the blame on the slutty chicks. Because those are the types of women who get themselves raped, pregnant, and in all sorts of trouble......nope, no blame goes to the men. Whatev.

It's not a case of people being prudish. It's a picture of someone's obvious lack of judgment--that "someone" being a cop is where most people have a problem.

I'm guessing boywithstick is probably pretty young because that sounded like something a young person without much professional experience would say. Not trying to slam him, but a persons age and experience will probably influence their view of the subject. I did 20 years in the Navy and was constantly reminded that we were ambassadors wherever we went. That's why I view a police officer doing something like this as unproffesional and they might want to rethink their chosen line of work, or at least gain some professionalism, common sense, and maturity.
