There are many cities that experience 300+ days of sunshine annually.

Me? I'm looking for a place that has a reasonable cost of living, a diverse group of people, is easy to drive to other cities from it, warm weather, no snow, large city, SHOPPING, RESTAURANTS, warm weather, no snow, sci-fi fans for my hubby, decent airport for travel, has a climate amenable to growing lots of stuff in the garden, lots of sunshine, is a growing city that attracts people from other places.

Doesn't it seem like it has been dreary forever!

I love SA, lots to do, lots to see, and everyone has been pretty darn friendly to me. Can't complain, I've been worse places.

There are quite a few of us that would be suicidal in Seattle. Myself being the lead Valium-taker. Either rain or ELSE!!! Yuck! It makes me sleepy and only want to eat comfort food. I hate the winter, but weather like this truly sucks.

You said "no snow" twice...we just happened to have gotten some snow a few days ago.

Having come from NY/NJ/CA...I don't think that SA is nearly as diverse as what I'm used to...that's neither good nor bad..just different.

OK, we lived here for three years before moving to Belgium (the country). I love Europe (lived there six times in my life, and travel back there a lot) but the weather there is typically like what we've been experiencing for the past couple of days; but for months at a time. Or worse. I remember one morning scraping several inches of ice of my car, and recalling that I never had to do that in San Antonio.

And my question back to you is what is there not to like about San Antonio? For one, it's Texas (God bless Texas!). Two, the weather (already mentioned). Three, the Hill Country. Four, it's very family friendly (Austin is better for younger, single folks). Five, the attractions and things to do around here. Six, it's Texas (yeah, I mentioned that before, but it's worth mentioning twice!). Seven, nice, friendly folks. Eight, it's a military town (I'm retired USAF). Nine, great cost of living. Ten, eleven, twelve...the list goes on.

Not everybody loves it here, and I can accept that but I can't understand why! We've been back about three-and-a-half years now and we don't regret it one bit. Oddly enough, even though I travel quite a bit due to work, and get back to Europe once or twice a year, I always find myself missing San Antonio. This is home, and we're happy.

Well, I lived in many places, and moved here from Austin for a short time, and Houston before that. Some of my reasons are.
- The Texas Hill Country.
- Not much traffic.
- Low cost of living, and beautiful homes.
- Small town friendly atmosphere in a big city.
- Economic staying power over other cities.
- Great churches.
- Weather.
The only downside that actually gets to me about San Antonio is the drivers.

Austin use to be a nice place to live. Now ,you couldn't pay me enough money to live there considering their horrific traffic and nasty water. It now has become just another 'keep-up-with-the-Jones' mini-Dallas suburbs filled with yuppies with maxed-out credit cards and pre-owned leased BMW's.
