Wow! This is exciting! I thought about this while driving my usual 32-miles from work, and smooth sailing with few slow-downs on 281/Evans. I am sure I am not the first one that thought of this.

How many of you are interested in a meet & greet or Luau? I met couple City-Data (CDs) in person, and it was nice. I am sure you're wondering where 210 gets all his stuffs. Is he an executive and sends his runner to take pictures for us? How many are interested in knowing if Nov...Hawk appreciates other places besides Stone Oak (SO)? After reading everyone's post, I think we have something in common - We Care About Where We Live!

A perfect location is not SO as Hawk would probably recommend, it's not Helotes, but Hooters on 281/San Pedro is a more neutral location unless the SA natives like wCAT, 210, 940, etc, can recommend a decent place.

If anyone interested, we'll have name tags with our usernames at the front desk and each CD member will pick-up and place it where's it's visible. No negative feedback please!

wCat, Neddy, WFF, are you attending? AFwife1029, someone can probably bring a model of "old delapidated houses to photograph" so you can attend and take awesome photos with your camera. I don't have a DSLR, but I have a decent pocket camera.

Again, thanks for all your assistance and look forward to meeting all of you!

--------------------------------
ALL,
The City-Data.com staff offered to donate $100 towards our meet n' greet, and in return, they'll want us to take lots of pictures and post it on this forum. Will you accept this offer towards maybe appetizers? Please advice.

--------------------------------
ALL,
This is a reminder of our first Meet n' Greet! If there's any changes, please advice. City-data.com sent the $100 via paypal, and in return would like to have photos of our event.

What: CDSA Meet n' Greet
When: Wed, April 18, 2007, 5:00pm to ?
Where: Flying Saucer
Misc: bring your own name tags

Anyone interested in adding to our one and only category of best name tag? We could add the following:

Most likely to help
Very opionated
Weirdest of them all

Also, can you put name and face together? Put all name tags in a hat/box and each person grab a name tag and place on the person you think matches the name. This will be a good quick "ice breaker".

Look forward to meeting all of you!

What's neutral about Hooters? What about us conservatives?

I heard there's Hawaiian restaurant in Broadway area. There's Lau-lau, poi (sour for new folks), Kalua, etc.

Dave and Busters is so loud, you can talk but you can't hear what everyone is saying. Fun otherwise though, not so good for a meet and greet.

I think it's a great idea....but I truly answered "maybe" because of my upcoming work schedule being iffy and out of town. Just some questions to throw out....weeknight or weekend? spouses or guests invited or not? family....ie kids? (or save them for later! ) Bar or no bar?

My suggestion would be to keep it as central as possible unless there is a part of town where the majority of CDs live. (how would we know?)

Whatever is decided should be sweet and simple.....

Weeks/days to avoid....Fiesta, Cinco De Mayo, Easter/Good Friday.....and probably should be before school gets out maybe? Other days/dates?

Do we need another poll for attendees?
