If you had 6 days for a road trip out of San Antonio, where would you go and why?

College aged child and friends have asked for my help doing this.

I would take a drive up to the DC Metro area from here. It's a pretty decent drive, can be made in one or two days. Spend two days in DC, and one or two back. You could go thru the south on I-10, or up thru Dallas/Arkansas/Tennesee/Virginia. Either way, it's a pretty decent drive.

DC is a 2-2½ day drive each way (I've done it) and that round trip within a week would wear me out.

Given that time, I would head out to Big Bend and spend several days hiking and sightseeing...

Are they party types? Outdoorsy? Artsy?

I would take a short drive to Houston, hop on a plane, and go to Ireland Ireland Travel Deals: Airfare, Hotels, Vacations & More | Travelzoo
It's a legit deal and comes to $882 (after taxes and fees) per person for airfare, rental car, and 6 nights in a two bedroom townhouse. http://vacations.travelzoo.com/europ...cations/605174
I'm going in February

Yeah, I guess it depends on how many stops. I have done it in one day, but that was by myself, with no overnight stops. With wife, kids and dog in tow, it took two. Seeing how this is a planned road trip, I would imagine there would be many stops.

San Diego, CA--perfect weather, gorgeous beaches
Hot Springs, Arkansas--cute little resort town in the "Arkansas" way
Memphis, TN--bbq, music
New Orleans, LA--dunno the attraction, but they're young
Albuquerque, NM--scenic beauty, different Mexican food, art scene

Party, Artsy, Outdoors... I do not clasify them as any of these. Just fun easy going kids. (I hope!)

Vegas? - They are 19 and 20 would that still work?

Big Bend - sounds great!

Sapphire - your replies are great, always!

RD - sounds like a great time, I wonder if they can rent a car being under 21?

Thanks!

I am pretty sure you have to be 25 to rent a car......they wouldn't enjoy Vegas not being 21.

Don't recommend San Diego unless you don't want to see them again. My 21 year old son went last summer and he's dying to go back and live on the beach if he has to.....God knows he couldn't afford to actually have walls and a door.
