Moderator cut: orphaned

Here it is, straight from the station's facebook page:

The New “X106-7 World Class Rock” makes its debut in San Antonio and will feature the best rock music from the past 40 years and today.

The station kicks-off with 10,000 songs COMMERCIAL FREE.

Is it going to have to same playlist as every other rock station? I want to be glad there's another option, but I'm afraid it's just going to be the same 10 songs x infinity.

I really need to just break down and get XM.

You can do without XM if you have a smart phone and an MP3 jack in your car/home. Every rock station in San Antonio is full of it. Best rock and metal stations are available on the 'net. Just ask my old buddies at 99.5 KISS lol even they don't listen to their own station.

Unfortunately, corporate radio will always play it somewhat safe with their formatting. I do think 106.7 will have a much better variety of rock than KZEP, which has been playing about the same 30 songs over & over for so many years.

Yeah. That one Aerosmith song, that one Led Zep song, that one Skynyrd tune, that one Molly Hatchet tune....etc....

Once again, proponents of an alt rock station are shut down for more old music in this town. Isn't there already enough with KZEP, MAGIC, JACK, KONO, and now this? Why is it that SA continues to not have or has never had an Alt Rock station? And no KISS is not an alternative rock station (see 101X and K-EDGE in Dallas to name a few).

Have you listened to 97.7 (KLTO) lately? Not "pure" alternative, but much better than the "mainstream" rock stations we have. I've found myself listening to it when I can, but it has a weak signal and I usually can only get it in the Jeep. It is broadcast from Cuero, with is east-southeast of SA.

The odd thing is, that station is owned by Univision, but it plays grunge and what not. I still can't figure that out...

Cheers! M2

YES. Terrestrial radio tends to be bad. In San Antonio the take it a step or two beyond that.
