Honestly, there's no reason. I know I've always tended to stay in my immediate area & not drive 20+ min just to eat. My area doesn't have that many family-owned eating places. I don't oppose going to them, I just don't do it much. Maybe I slightly tend to choose other places to eat because family-owned places may look more like hole in the wall type places. Now, I'm not saying they're NOT clean inside or that the food isn't fabulous.

There's all kinds of individually owned places to eat in the RC/Upland/N. Ontario areas. Tell me what types of cuisine you prefer and I'll render unto thee some suggestions.

Fontucky, you know, maybe I should be more open to other types of eating places. I love it ALL: Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Italian, pizza, American food of course too!

The only mom & pop/family-owned places I've been to were:

- Felipe's Rancho Mexican Restaurant on Archibald in R.C.
- Flo's Airport Cafe in Chino
- Some restaurant in Buena Park were there's also a hobby shop in the same plaza
- BJ's Cafe or Kick Back Jack's in R.C....whatever the current name of it is
- some pizza place at the intersection of Arrow & Archibald in R.C.
- some soul food place in Rialto on Foothill

I'm probably forgetting a couple others.

Forever Blue, try Taco Factory at Archibald and Base Line. It's hole in the wall, and a bit more than decent.

Fontucky, Flo's to me was nothing special. I've been twice for breakfast. I don't see anything above avg w/ their food plus the seating's pretty cramped in there & the salsa on the table looks like it's been sitting there for days. I wouldn't have gone those 2 times if my BF hadn't taken me. He likes that place. I never have to go there again. I have no reason to be in Chino.

David Aguilar, we were talking about mom & pop/family-owned places. Isn't Taco Factory a chain? I've tried them too & also once or twice in the Terra Vista Ctr & in Upland in the ctr at the Campus 210 off ramp. Again, it's good, but nothing special.

If you guys know about that site called Yelp, I've written over 100 reviews for mostly eating places. You'll see what I really think about places. My name on there is RI.

Now, from late Aug - late Nov, I'll be in Hesperia 4 days/wk & I'll have the chance to eat at a lot of places there for lunch...stay tuned for reviews of places over there!

I find it amazing that people can say one place is "hands down" the best (insert descriptive food word here) in the IE. Have you eaten at every single (insert descriptive food word here) in the IE to know this? If so, thats impressive.

There might be a few of them, but it isn't "chain" in the sense that you can find them in Anysuburb, USA.

http://www.tacofactoryinc.com/OUR_LOCATIONS.html

I never knew they were only in the IE & OC, so I guess it's not considered a chain. According to the webpage of locations, there's only 9, but we can see they're missing the one at Archibald/Baseline & if they're missing that one, they're probably missing several more.
