As a former resident of YV (owned a video store in the 80's & former father in law was CHET of Chet's appliances), I'd say you may have to go down the hill to find any classy version of what you're looking for. There may be something in 29 palms since it had a marine base (does it still - i thought it closed...) at one time...
FYI: there are some "well kept" secrets in the YV area, if you're interested, in regard to nature & exploration. I'll fill you in if you're interested.
OH I just realized this is a dead thread!
The OP has probably long gone from YV cuz THERE IS NOTHING TO DO THERE BUT watch videos or get inebriated or go hiking if you can take the climate.
The hiking is fascinating if you get info on the limited flora/fauna. The Morongo Valley Conservancy was one of my "well kept" secrets... The Yucca Mesa area is the other... Buttes are hidden about a mile & a half in, on the Mesa.
Oh well. Someone should lock this thread. Where are you, CornerGuy1?
