Anybody who has been in San Diego for a while knows that the Chargers have threaten to leave San Diego for Los Angeles for about 10-15 years now. With the new investment group interested in bringing the Minnesota Vikings to Los Angeles (story below) do you think this will take the heat off of the Chargers?

I sure hope so! Alleluia!!!!!!!!!

But I think any team moving to Los Angeles would be disappointing. The only team that would make perfect sense to go to Los Angeles is the Raiders and possibly the Jaguars.

other than those two teams, it wouldn't make sense for any other team to go there.

I think Los Angeles should just start up it's own team.

Boy things have gotten pretty pathetic if San Diego Charger fans are praying that the snowstorms in the Midwest will stop their team from coming to Los Angeles. White-outs due to snow in Minneapolis or black-outs due to poor attendance in San Diego means one of these cities is going to lose it's football team; my guess is that the momentum is going against San Diego retaining the Chargers.

Here's why San Diego is losing the Chargers:

Chargers get blackout extension

By UNION-TRIBUNE,
Monday, December 13, 2010 at 4:40 p.m.
The Chargers (http://topics.signonsandiego.com/topics/San_Diego_Chargers - broken link) announced Monday evening that they have been granted a 24-hour extension to sell nearly 2,000 seats needed to lift the blackout for Thursday's home finale against the San Francisco 49ers (http://topics.signonsandiego.com/topics/San_Francisco_49ers - broken link).
Extensions are rarely granted unless the home team believes it has a good chance to sell the necessary tickets. The new deadline is 5:20 p.m. Tuesday.
If the blackout is lifted, the game will be televised on NFL Network (http://topics.signonsandiego.com/topics/NFL_Network - broken link), with a simulcast (http://topics.signonsandiego.com/topics/Simulcast - broken link) in San Diego County (http://topics.signonsandiego.com/topics/San_Diego_County,_California - broken link) on the Fox (http://topics.signonsandiego.com/topics/Fox_Broadcasting_Company - broken link) affiliate, Channel 5/69.

Quote from Mark Fabiani, the spokesman for the Chargers:

"We don't have a crystal ball," Fabiani said, "so we cannot predict what will happen beyond the next year, year and a half. We understand that people would love us to make a forever commitment, but we also hope people understand that in their own lives or their own business, no one would reasonably ask someone to make a commitment so far down the road. That's not how the world works. We also hope people understand we are doing everything we reasonably can do. To say otherwise would not be responsible. It would not be honest."

San Diego, like any city, has to make a decision to spend big money on a new stadium and that decision has to be made within the next year in order to put a measure on the ballot. But in these hard times it may be very difficult for the citizens of San Diego or any other NFL city to raise taxes for a sport's facility.

ProFootballWeekly.com - Los Angeles Chargers in 2012?

"If San Diego wants to keep the team, the city and team would need to agree on a ballot measure to build a new stadium during 2011 and will need that to pass in the Nov. 2012 election, but according to the Times, that will probably never materialize.

Chargers president and CEO Dean Spanos has apparently become frustrated with San Diego's lack of commitment to the team and building a new venue, and he is unlikely to campaign publicly for voters to pass the ballot measure".

Ok I have seen that a billion times. I am not sure why you are bringing that up. Why are you so selfish about this issue? You want a football team in Los Angeles yet you freak out if the Vikings are brought up.

Los Angeles Doesn't Deserve A NFL Franchise | Bleacher Report

The owners of the Vikings have already talked with AEG and Los Angeles. They are fed up that the stadium they are in keeps breaking and falling apart.

The Chargers have denied talking to AEG.

The article doesn't address the over-riding issue: $. It's not about if LA is a basketball and baseball-only town [what a silly example Does that mean San Diego is not a basketball town since it currently does not have a NBA team?]. Los Angeles, for better or worse, is not going to build a football stadium with tax money especially since it already has the Coliseum and Rose Bowl. If the NFL does not want to invest in renovating the Coliseum for earthquake safety and Pasadena does not want a pro-team in the Rose Bowl, then that leaves only one other option: private funds. Now the powerfully wealthy firm, AEG steps in by offering $1 billion if LA will let them tear down part of the convention center [of-course AEG will compensate the city]. Both the mayor and city council as well as the governor who lives in Los Angeles are interested and willing to give tax breaks since the stadium will attract more people to LA Live.

But whoever happens to be the actual team that comes to Los Angeles is fairly irrelevant though the focus is most definitely on the Chargers.

OMG, shut up about the Vikings already. Does this city need to take away another team from Minnesota? Why not do things the proper way with an expansion team. The Vikings are going to SUCK SUCK SUCK for the next 3 years. Great RB (Peterson), almost great (Harvin), and great DE (Allen). Other than that, there are alot of issues with this team.
