I just...don't like driving. Plus I would prefer to save the money. Is there enough in the city where I want have to drive?

Honestly, I don't need to do a lot. I just need the necessities, y'know somewhere to get food from, and maybe a little entertainment. I know the public transportation isn't supposed to be so good, but maybe it's enough for me...I visited San Diego just a few days ago and loved it!

There are two grocery stores in the city. Ralph's at 1st & G, and Albertson's at 14th & Market. For entertainment, there are lots of bars, and I think a theater downtown somewhere.

You can get by without a car. I used to live downtown, and didn't have a car for a while. I moved out of downtown, but I still take public transportation most of the time to save money, even though I have a car.

It depends where you work and play. If you work and play downtown or on the bus line, then you are fine. I get very fatigued with people saying you MUST have a car in SD. Is it more convenient to get around with a car? Yes. Can you live your life and enjoy the area without one? sure. If you understand it is not NYC or Chicago you will be fine. The buses do not run as much as I would find ideal but, there a couple of factors that make it tolerable-first the weather-it is not ever uncomfortable to wait/walk, second there is less crime and harassment at stops so it is not awful to be at a bus stop.

I could live without a car, but choose not to right now-because the convenience of having a payed for car ( we barely use) out weights the hassle. The places I like best (Downtown, Balboa Park neighborhoods, most beaches) are all accessible by public transportation.

We use scooters for primary transport-a situation that trumps car or bus IMO.

But just remember, when you go out at night, the busses don't run as often. Sunday's are horrible, because MTS cut service to save money.

That's fine. After all, gotta make some sacrifices to live in a desirable area like this!
