My fiance is is attending Golf Academy beginning in May. My daughter (6yo) and I will be moving with him. We will have about 10k saved. What are the best places to live that have a good school system, apt. rent not too high, and is not too far from Golf Academy (In Carlsbad)? In addition, I will have about $500 income coming in (until I find work). The school also places him into a job. This IS going to happen, I just want to go about it in best, smartest way possible.

Congrats to your fiance on the Golf Academy; my husband would love that!

Of course the folks on this site will need to know what you mean by "not too high" when inquiring about rentals. My guess that someplace like Vista would be affordable, but I'm not sure what the schools are like. Have you looked on Craigslist to see what rents are going for in Carlsbad, their schools should be decent?

Just a guess but i'd presume you'd go to golf academy to improve your golfing skills/knowledge to the point where you could make a living in some aspect of the golfing industry..

Not enough in info. Rent in North County is going to run you about 1,500. Encinitas is good for schools, and is a more laid back than CBD. I will leave it at that except to say one person on 3k a month is on a tight budget living in North County, so have your ducks in row. It is a welcoming area as long as you bring your BMW and lots of Coin.
