I've got a sweetheart deal at 24hour fitness for life so I'm not interested in paying a ton for another place, but I've got several friends who want to work out with me but don't want to pay the 24hour fitness rates... ugh.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm in Kearny Mesa, Mission Valley area.

Go in on the equipment and use a garage.

I hate home gyms, and most apartment gyms.. I gotta have a range of stuff to work with. I read a little about Chuze, I think they are $50 to join $10/month and maybe you get free guests?

I've never heard of free. You could take a class at a College and then use their gym. All you need is a spin bike, Olympic set and a curl bar in all reality.

Chuze Fitness - www.chuzefitness.com. Or one of the YMCA's. If you join the Mission Valley Y, you have access to four Y's.

Yup, Chuze's base price is $10/mo. I miss the Y but at $40/mo it's not really "cheap".

Look into snap fitness. $15 a month, 24 hr access via key card they give you. Fairly small but has wide array. Wouldn't even call it small it's just not a super sized gym like are becoming the norm now.

The closest one is in Escondido.

Chuze is cheap at $10/month, but they get you on the membership and joining fees, which come to around $80. I used to belong to the Copley Y in the ghetto. The joining fee was $40, and my membership fee every month was $10.75.

The downside of it is that there's no day classes, but you can use the weight room. I dropped it after the yoga instructor insulted me. I've also heard that the parking at Chuze is horrible.

Small gyms are better. Big ones where you have to wait for the two hitting on each other and using the equipment as chairs aren't for me.
