George's Fish Bucket. Tucked away next to the post office in Tierrasanta, in the mall on Santo south of Hwy 52. This place gives Downtown Fish Joint a run for its money! DH had the calamari appetizer. He reports it was really good - not at all chewy, and was plenty enough for supper. I had fish 'n chips, which wasn't terribly authentic but was really good nonethless - and still I have half of it for lunch tomorrow!

Today I went to Hoai Hue on El Cajon BLVD in City Heights with my colleagues. Been going here for a few years now and I always get the #14, BBQ pork patty, crab patty, 4 pan fried shrimp, and white rice with a fried egg on top. Comes with lettuce, tomato, and cucumbers for $8 dollars and the accompanying broth. I never get tired of this order so why change a good order.

We usually all share a number 22, 10 rice cakes topped with ground shrimp, pork rinds and green onions.

SO GOOD AND SUCH A GOOD PRICE and unlike other Viet places in City Heights like Mihn Ky and Pho Hoa, I never see anyone but Vietnamese in this place.

Pho Cadao in Santee, we've eaten here several times and definitely feel it is the best Pho in East County.

This is a small chain of restaurants with locations on University Ave in SD and on Mira Mesa Blvd in North SD. There pho is consistent across all three restaurants and in my opinion one of the better tasting phos in the County.

Is this the one that used to have a Rancho Bernardo location near Bernardo Center? If so, I second the recommendation.

I believe so, their menus listed a 4th location that we had never been to but we have eaten at the three other locals and can say it is consistently great pho soup across all three. The stores are always busy too so it's very popular.

Ham and Salami footlong 'Grinder' at the Grinder Sandwich Shop on 2nd Street in El Cajon. Quite possibly the best tasting sandwich in East County.
